Will you interpret it? What is in his hands?

Shari, I am not Hindu, so I would rather not try to interpet this drawing. I drew it when I was much younger, and used other artist renderings for reffrances. I know the sign on his hand is OM.

Lord Ganesh!!
As a child,He was one of my favourite Gods, sort of like Santa Claus..I loved to hear stories about Him,and just to look at His funny head..Hey,do you guys know hoe He got the elephants head?

When Lord Ganesh was a child,He had a normal human head. One day,His mom,Goddess Parvati is going for a bath and She puts Ganesh on gaurd at the door.Little Ganesh takes His role seriously, and refuses even His father,Lords Shiva,to be let in.Furious,Shiva cuts off His son's head.Parvati demands Shiva to bring Ganesha back to life.So Shiva sends His minions in search of a head.As no human head was available they settle for the next best thing. And thats how Ganesh gets a cute elephant head!

Ganesh was always one of my favorite hindu gods as well. That is why I drew him.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

U beat me to it anamika ... when i saw Lord Ganesha. i was hoping i get to tell that story. but anyway . he happens to be my fav god too. and according to hindu mythology there are like 33 million god and godesses. so we are kind of spoilt for choice.
Anyway that story having been said i will try to answer Shari's question of the things in his hands :
there is ususally an axe ot mace which is for destroying the evil(it symbolizes evil deeds and not people. He is also know as Vighna- Vinashaka: Vighna= difficulty Vinashaka= destroyer so he is destroyer of hurdles. I guess he uses the axe for the same purpose. get the symbolism. so most of hindus start a new venture by invoking Lord Ganesha first.). then there is the noose which helps bring beloved ones closer. then there is usually a book or scroll of parchment.(ganesh is the god of knowledge and studies) and see that globe on his left hand?? thats actually a "laddu" . Ita a really tasty indian sweet. One of my favs too . Generallty there is this Swastika sign on the hands of hindu Gads and Godesses and b4 u start howling its got nothing to do with the nazi thingy. we had that as a sign of good luck and prosperity long long time b4 hitler was born. so plz dont confuse it.
one more thing see that tiny mouse . its supposed to Lord Ganesha's mode of transport. Ya Lord Ganesha is funny. And plz plz plz dont inform the PETA people.
BTW beautiful drawing butterfly. U can be an honorary hindu :D
